Timeline 2021

We started off the year (and the last few days of 2020) with a New Year's trip to Texas. We flew in and out of Dallas, visited Six Flags Over Texas, then drove down to San Antonio in pouring rain to visit Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Read more here.

After that it was back to our distance learning routines. The kids had a more exciting Valentine's Day than I ever could have imagined, including a visit from Cinderella trudging through the snow to bring them a Valentine. Oscar and I celebrated our 15th anniversary with a date day while the kids went out to camp. In late February Allison was able to do hybrid learning, meaning zoom meetings 2 days a week and 90 minutes in person 2 days a week.

In March we celebrated my 39th birthday with pretzel pizza, and Tyler went back for hybrid learning in person for three hours 4 days a week with afternoons and Wednesdays still all virtual. We celebrated Easter with some fun activities and made our first visit to a neat new outer space themed play ground. Read more here.

For the kids' spring break we took them on their first scenery vacation, as opposed to our usual vacations visiting family and/or destination theme parks. During our first days we saw multiple waterfalls before heading to the north Oregon coast to visit Seaside, Cannon Beach, and Lincoln City, OR. Read More in Spring Break 2021 - Part I.

We continued down the southern part of the Oregon coast doing more sightseeing, exploring the Sea Lion Caves, visiting the Prehistoric Gardens, and petting zoo animals at West Coast Game Park Safari before heading back north to Salem, OR. Read more in Spring Break 2021 - Part II.

For our final days we played at a couple fun parks, went to the Tulip Festival at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm where we went on our first hot air balloon ride, saw 7 waterfalls at Silver Falls Stake Park, and had fun at Wings and Waves indoor water park. Read more in Spring Break 2021 - Part III.

After our trip the kids returned to their hybrid schedules, Oscar and I got our long awaited Covid vaccines, the kids got in lots of good park time whenever the weather was nice, auntie Malia gave them brand new beds, I did Mother's Day deliveries, and we celebrated Tyler's birthday. In late May mom and dad came up for a week and Marcus and Martha came up for the weekend to see Tyler's baptism and celebrate his belated birthday. We made our first visit to Slidewaters out in Chelan, the children's museum and Wild Waves finally reopened, and the kids finished up the school year. Read more in Spring 2021 - Part II.

Shortly after school let out we took a trip down to Utah to attend Oscar's 20 year class reunion. On our way we visited Silverwood theme park. In Utah we visited Lagoon several times, and the kids had lots of fun playing with cousins and celebrating the 4th of July. Read more in Summer Utah and Silverwood Trip.

After our Utah trip we returned home to Washington for Tyler to attend in person summer school. We had lots of fun outside, visiting with friends who'd come up from Utah, and making multiple trips to Wild Waves. Read more in Late Summer Fun.
In August our family took a long road trip down to California to take advantage of the remaining time left on our theme park passes. Read more in Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Six Flags Magic Mountain

We also visited Universal Studios and Sea World

In September the kids went back to full-time, in person school for the first time in 18 months. We also celebrated Allison's 6th birthday, attended the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival, and Allison lost her first tooth.
