Leavenworth

If you're ever in Washington you have to visit Leavenworth. It's a beautiful drive east. Leavenworth is a little Bavarian town that was voted one of the country's top 10 Christmasey places. As you can see, they go all out for Christmas. The town was struggling in the 20's, so they turned it into a German town and all buildings must be Bavarian, even the McDonald's. It's also very beautiful at Christmas time. Oscar and I visited in December 2008 and again in the summer of 2009. We liked it more in the summer, but it's very beautiful in the winter (freezing, but beautiful). Unfortunately, we forgot our camera when we went in the summer. It's fun to go into all the cute little shops. We loved this wall of clocks.

And if you're there in the evening, Oscar and I highly recommend the Alley cafe for an excellent Italian dinner.
