Lynnwood Stake's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat: Part III - Prologue/Any Dream Will Do/Jacob and Sons

Our show started off with the narrators telling the children a story about dreaming. "Some folks dream of the wonders they'll do before their time on this planet is through...some hide their hopes and their heads in the sand...but if you're here for the night...we'll tell the tale of a dreamer like you. We all dream a lot, some are lucky, some are not. But if you think it, want it, dream it, then it's real..and all that I say can be told another way in the story of a boy whose dream came true, and it could be you!"
Narrators leave and the children point to Joseph coming through the audience

Joseph shows off his charm and winning smile throughout the audience while singing "Any Dream will Do."

"A crash of drums, a flash of light. My golden cloak flew out of sight! The colors faded into darkness. I was left alone."

"May I return to the beginning. The light is dimming and the dream is too. The world and I we are still waiting, still hesitating, any dream will do."

The lights dim and the music fades away before triumphantly returning to tell the story of Jacob and Sons. Lights hit the narrators at stage right as they sing about Jacob's farming life with his 12 songs in the land of Canaan - "a fine example of a family man!"
Canaanite wives and daughters dance to the upbeat music and escort father Jacob ("also known as Israel") to his chair. According to the Bible he'd be over 100 years old by now. Jacob had four wives, though he was basically saddled with three of them. His chosen wife Rachael had born him Joseph after decades of infertility and later passed away giving birth to her second son Benjamin.

Narrators introduce the brothers starting with Reuben the eldest, who was actually a good deal younger than our eldest brother actor. We had quite the age range among them. Our youngest brother was in middle school and our oldest has grandbabies.
The brothers each come runing through the Canaanite bridge shouting out their names in sync with the narrators.

Brothers do a team huddle while "Joseph, Jacob's favorite son" leans down for a hug.
Then the whole gang comes together for a big family selfie.

    It truly was one of the best and most fun and professionally done play. Glad you and Oscar had such a great time performing.
