In early September Oscar and I used our Groupon for two hours at High Trek Adventures at Paine Field. It was awesome! I didn't even get around to every obstacle they have in our two hours. It was super fun and super challenging. I was quite sore for the next 48 hours.
They have easy, medium, and hard obstacles, but seriously, don't do the hard ones unless you have Ninja Warrior-type obstacle skills. They were so difficult they weren't even enjoyable. The one I'm doing in the video was just miserable. Those boards were so flimsy I don't know how anyone above 50 pounds could balance on them. I couldn't wait to be done, but then I still had two more maximum difficulty obstacles to do before I could get back to the central area. It wasn't even giving me a good workout at that point because I was just hanging out in the air wondering where I could possibly put my hands and feet. It was just "how in the world am I supposed to do this?" hard. The spiderweb obstacle that Oscar's doing in these pics was also very challeging for me. I tried the top part where there's no ledge or straight rope to hold onto. I got myself so caught up in the web and wrapped my own ropes around so much trying to stay stable that I made it much more dangerous than it should have been. When I lost my balance and fell, I legitimately feared I was going to hang myself. If I ever do that one again, I'll ask one of the employees to guide me through it.
I stuck to the less insane obstacles after that
We weren't allowed to have our phones with us on the course, so all these pictures could only be taken when one of us was back on the ground after ziplining. That's why they're all so distant.
Oscar was a master at descending. I never quite got the hang of it. Even though I did it 5 or 6 times, I always needed some instruction and looked a little awkward.
Though it's just 3 basic ziplines going around the edge of the structure, it was cool being able to zipline as much as we wanted to.
All in all, I highly recommend it and we'll definitely be back. Good thing it's just around the corner.
