Summer 2018: Montana/Silverwood Road Trip Part II - Helena back to the Panhandle

Once we made it to Helena we got checked in at our hotel and met up with Wray at Centennial park.
I hadn't realized it would already be so chilly in August. I felt bad having the kids in summer clothes with all that wind.
Wray and Oscar flew kites while I played with the kids.
From there we walked over to the Great Northern Carousel. Tyler rode the otter and Allison rode the dinosaur.
Pizza, ice cream, and treats before going back for another ride. Allison was super cute just twirling around on the floor talking about riding the horsies.
On their second ride Allison wanted to ride the Merhorsey while Tyler rode the bobcat.

There was a lovely sunset on our way back to the hotel.

The next morning we ran our muddy obstacle course with Wray and some of his buddies from the ward. The wife of the guy in the bright blue shirt was nice enough to watch our kids while we raced.

Too bad the camera on top of Oscar's head was a complete waste. It only recorded a minute of footage though he wore it for over 2 hours. :( The folks in charge of the race took some footage, including a shot of me completely caked in mud, but they haven't updated their site yet. It was a fun, challenging race which I'm thrilled I did and would love to do again, but next time I'm getting a camera I can rely on. We weren't constantly moving since we were often in line waiting for teammates to finish up the obstacles, so I would have had plenty of time to take pictures. I'd just need something that could handle getting wet and muddy.

After picking up the kids, getting lunch, and putting Allison down for nap, we went back down near the carousel to let the kids play at ExplorationWorks, another perk of our ASTC travel passport.

Allison spent lots of time in the farm exhibit.

Oscar, Tyler, and I put our faces in the red pegs, but Allison refused to. All we have is this video of her fighting me while I tried to persuade her to stick her face in too.
The kids were fascinated by the live beehive inside the museum.
From there we walked down to the Last Chance train tour for a fun train ride around the city.

We had dinner at the home of one of our teammates from the race then spent one more night at the hotel and joined Wray at church the next morning before starting our drive back to Idaho.
Oscar got some nice shots of the city on his run that morning.

Tyler couldn't wait for breakfast at the hotel restaurant, so he filled up on jam.

On this trip back through Missoula we stopped off A Carousel for Missoula, which was super FAST! At least this one had belts for the kids or I would have been terrified. The kids both liked the Rainbow horse and the dragon. They rode it twice.
There was also a fantastic playground, which would have been even more fun if it hadn't been raining on and off.

They did what they could without getting completely soaked before we stopped for dinner at Red Robin. We tried going to a local cafe, but everything was closed.

After that we drove to Trail Motel where Allison begged for her rainbow bed and immediately put herself to sleep.
