June 2019: Summerish

The first part of June was nice enough to break out the summer clothes and bring up the portable air conditioner from the basement. Tyler still had 3 weeks of school, but I took Allison out to play in the sun whenever I got the chance.

Allison's dinosaur was falling apart so Tyler said "I'm going to make her a dinosaur bobblehead!" He went and did it entirely on his own, and it totally works. I marvel at his creativity whenever I look at it. If someone had asked me to make a dinosaur bobblehead I wouldn't have had any idea where to start. I would have had to look it up and carefully follow instructions.

Allison is thrilled she can finally make it up to the top of the spiderweb structure.

We went over to Pathfinder to support Tyler during his school's fun run. He ran 22 laps! Now we know he's got a lot more stamina than we thought he did. His class was supposed to dress in orange, so Allison, daddy, and I all dressed in orange too.

Allison could only handle watching for so long, but thankfully there was a playground available. In spite of all the equipment, she was most interested in balancing along the edge.

Cute kids berry picking with daddy while mommy was at work. I worked nearly every Saturday this past month, which makes for a nice change of pace for me.

My delivery route took me up the east side then past our house before I had to drive 8 miles down the west side to finish up my last two deliveries. I saw the last one wasn't too far from Edmond's City Park and splashpad, so I picked up the family and took them along with me. It's a great park, but we rarely visit since it's fairly out of the way.
A similar thing happened the next week, and we ended up at Willis Tucker Park in Snohomish.
Tyler kept asking for the whole family to sit on the teeter totter together, but Oscar and I didn't want to take a seat away from another child. His wish came true towards the end of our stay when no other children were trying to climb on it

Tyler made lots of  projects for daddy for Father's Day. There were at least 3 more than the two featured here. He's a sweetie!

That week Oscar made homemade waffles while I made homemade gnocchi, which took far more time and effort than I'd planned on. I only cooked a small amount of it (featured here) and froze the rest of the dough for later. It's a LOT of work!

One weekend Oscar ran the Bridal Trails 5K with the other managers at his work. There was a "party in the park" festival where we met up with him shortly after he crossed the finish line.

It's an equestrian park, so of course they had pony rides. Allison was so excited waiting in line that she started galloping on the plush pony they had at the donation booth.
She was so giddy when she first got on that the assistant asked "have you ridden a horse before?" to which she happily replied "I'm riding a horse right now!" I like that there was a decent sized pasture for the ponies to walk around. I always feel bad for the ones that have to walk in a small circle all day.

We did some of the activities, including a 1K hike, and the kids got excellent balloon animals. The line was super slow, but the artists were really good. Tyler is loving the show "The Magic School Bus" lately, so his artist made him a school bus. Allison requested a unicorn. She's had a balloon unicorn before, but this once was even more impressive.

Silly kids jumping over each other.

The last day of the month was sunny and nice. After church and Allison's nap we took a walk down to the playground at Odyssey Elementary. It's the closest elementary to our house at only one mile away, but it isn't where Tyler will attend school. We live right where the boundaries of three different elementary schools converge.
I took Tyler here once before Allison was born, but he wasn't able to do much since it's clearly meant for older children, so I hadn't brought him back. Now they love it since they're both great climbers. They didn't want to leave and begged to come back another time.

Oscar laid down in the net, which made Allison squeal and say she wanted to sit with daddy. This picture looks cute, but Allison weighing down on him actually made Oscar's body dig into the metal attachments, which wasn't very pleasant.

Whee! I love that Allison still has that static dandelion hair when she goes down slides.

  1. Wow the children are growing up so fast. Can't believe Ali can climb to the highest bar and that Tyler can hand on the rings. This is an awesome Stacy and what a runner Tyler is. Also cute pony pictures with Ali enjoying every minute she was on
