Utah Trip: April 2019 - Part II

Tyler sleeping on the mattress within the pouf
The 2nd half of our trip was largely made up of cold, gray, rainy weather. I don't have any pictures from Wednesday since we were all swimming at the Gene Fullmer rec center. It'd poured all day Wednesday, so Allison was excited to finally get to play in Mike's backyard when Thursday morning was halfway decent. It didn't last long though. It started snowing as she jumped on the tramp, and it snowed and rained on and off up through the afternoon.

I took the kids over to Hi Jump so I could do my zumba class while they played, but they weren't all that into it this time. Allison was terrified and full of anxiety and even Tyler was a bit whiny. At least I got a great workout!

I encouraged Allison to play at first, but she fell over on this slide here and then refused to do anything else but cuddle with grandma.

She was still scared to play on the playground at Arctic Circle, but eventually she came around and played duck duck goose with some other girls.

The weather improved that afternoon so we took kids for some pony rides at Farm Country at Thanksgiving point. We got there with only about 10 minutes to spare.
From there we went over to the new Butterfly Biosphere where the kids played on the insects.

We saw lots of pretty butterflies, but Allison was far more interested in playing on the play structure.

Ladybug girl!

Emma and Sophie joined in on the fun too!

Ethan and Tyler hung out in the treehouse doing the different science activities they provide up there.

We had a barbeque that evening and the kids finally had nice enough weather to play together in the backyard. I wasn't sure that was going to happen at all that trip since rain was predicted for our next day too.

The next morning I took the kids swimming at the South Jordan Recreation Center. I came for aqua zumba, but it was cancelled, so I had Oscar get the kids out of child care and bring them swimming. They don't turn the water features on in the morning, but the children's play area is still accessible. I figured Allison would be more interested in it without so much water splashing on her from above. She still freaked out a little and didn't want to play on it, but eventually she came around watching Tyler and the other kids going down the slides without getting water in their face. She also liked playing on the big snake. I wish I'd had their good lifejackets. These orange ones they provided were horrible and uncomfortable.

Once she tried the slides, she loved them. I knew she would since it's pretty similar to the yellow slides she goes on over and over again at Wild Waves.

When the cousins were out of school we all went down to play at the museum of curiosity. My friend Rebecca came with us too. Allison spent around 10 minutes just filling up this pitcher and dumping it out. Good thing I had extra clothes and shoes for her.

The kids saw the Ladybug stage outside after feeding the fish, so they danced and played leapfrog on it. It was great fun until Allison accidentally kicked Sophie in the eye. Fortunately Sophie cheered up enough to do some treetop climbing with her later on.

Ethan and Tyler waved down to us from the top of the jungle play area.

From there we drove back up to Layton where we got the kids down for bed and Oscar got a massage from his brother studying massage therapy.
Cuddles with grandma Flinders
We hadn't had a chance to see great grandma and grandpa Flinders, so they came over our final morning while we finished up our laundry and packing. Tyler sat on grandma Flinder's lap and read out loud "Mr Brown Can Moo. Can You?" Everyone was very impressed with his reading skills. Even grandpa Flinders was participating and making noises. Tyler's old enough now that he may remember this, especially with the videos and pictures.
We finally got to see Dillan and Justin after they'd been sick all week with RSV.

Then we all danced around to the song "Daddy!"

On our drive back we stopped at Carl's Jr again, though this time Allison was full of anxiety just like at the bounce house and swimming pools. Eventually we got her to come around by going up and playing in the structure with her. Once she remembered it was fun she was happy to play on her own. Tyler played so hard even he fell asleep in the car, which he didn't do at all on the drive down.

And we spent the night at Cambria's house again before finishing off our drive home.

  1. Stacy you found some wonderful pictures and I loved the ones with the great grandparents as well as Martha and Marcus. It was a fun time despite the rain and snow, and I know the kids really enjoyed their trip to see so much family. Thanks sweet daughter for doing all these blogs
